BIG FAT NO! So lets clear this up shall we

no they cant detect the client.

If this were true, botting would be impossible as every account would be detected and banned instantly..

If jagex knew how we logged in we all would've been banned a long time ago.

I can confirm that this is nearly impossible to achieve on such scale, the method itself of obtaining the client used is a tricky process and could easily lead to false information, secondly I don't think Jagex would want to invest in such a method as it insta-bans everyone using the 'Rsbot' client (or something named similar for that matter) resulting in a significant profit loss, seeing that (and I am not sure if this is correct, but as stated on the powerbot home page) 8 million unique users use the bot every month.

Bot smart like the rest then the more bots you can invest!

Well I've been banned using Dreambot, so it's 100% detected guaranteed.

I have a theory, but no real evidence to support it, that they can tell if you're using the OSBuddy or Official RS client. This is because using the mirror mode features on other clients, I have experienced bans, yes, but the accounts tend to last, on average, more than 3 times as long. Could it be possible that Jagex can perform a scan or somewhat process to determine whether you're using one of those two clients? Maybe using a bot client will just return something like: Unknown client.

    Anyway, that's just a theory.

I always thought why not make a botting software that would use the actual runescape client itself like a form of overlay system ??

no it's not that simple, they cannot ban you on the basis that you were using a third-party client - you may be using osbuddy. all bans have to be manually reviewed therefore it takes time, also jagex would never make their method of banning so obvious.

not 100% true bro. They now have automatic bans. Prime example is making new accounts. 1/4 will be banned by the time you get to faldor if you botted tutorial island.

i think accounts with X amount of playing hours or £ spent on the account in membership sales will get looked at alot closer than a new one. You could be right though, does make sense to check an account which is paying for your service before banning it. who knows everything is speculation till a j mod comes here and spills it all.
