    INTRODUCTION

I'm sure there have been more than enough people sharing their respective thoughts on how they think

you should go about running an efficient bot/bot farm. I'm also sure they've all contributed valid and helpful

ideas and tips. Now it's my turn. I've been using bots non-stop for the past 2 months now, and have gone

through a lot of trial and error to get to the point I am at now. Now I want to share what I've learned with

everyone here and hope that at best you learn one thing new today. So lets get started.

    INDEX

    1. What to do before you start using bots
    2. Getting to know Dreambot
    3. How to use your proxy
    4. Tips to avoid getting banned
    5. Additional tips (Community input)

    1. What to do before you start using bots

I've seen some people suggest that all you need is a client, a script and an account to begin running bots.
While this may be true, and its definitely the bare minimum to get started, you're not going to get very
far with just the bare minimum. I myself don't even consider this a "minimum" to begin botting, but more of
a "Learners Permit" to get the hang of the basics. If you really want to jump into the game already ahead,
you'll need all of the following.

    • A client to run your script (Ex. Dreambot)
    • A reliable script
    • A few proxy servers. (Socks5 proxies)
    • A VPN (If your machine has trouble multi-tasking)
    • Some startup cash (Real & RSGP)

Now lets go over each of these one by one and explain why they are a must if you are going to take
    botting seriously.

    1. Picking a client
You obviously can't bot without a well-built client, right? For argument purposes, lets say Dreambot is the best
client you can use ;). There are obviously other bots you can choose from, but why would you?

    2. A reliable script
This is where a lot of fresh botters make their first mistake. Let me explain this in 4 simple words. POPULAR
ISNT ALWAYS BEST. Actually, I almost never use a script that has a bunch of users. The reason being is the more
people that use the script, the faster Jagex will be able to pickup on it, hence the faster your account ends up in
limbo. We don't want that. Instead, find a script that's new or has a small user base. Alternatively, you could write
your own script using programs such as Eclipse, but we wont get into that in this guide.

    3. Proxy servers
I cannot stress this enough guys, using proxies these days are almost an absolute must. For those of you that
don't know what a proxy is/does let me give you the most basic understanding. They keep your main IP address
safe from bans/chain bans. If you bot on the same IP you play your main account on, you risk having your main
banned along with the bots if a chain ban happens. Proxies are dirty cheap, and if you refuse to use them or another
form of IP masking you should stay away from botting.

    4. VPN (Virtual Private Networks)
Virtual private networks are only really a must if you plan on running several bots at a time and your machine
has a hard time keeping up. They allow you to host your bots on another computer, and the only resource
you use up on your end if your bandwidth. I wont go too much into detail on VPNs in this guide.

    5. Startup cash
I almost never see this mentioned in any other guides, and its actually a pretty important factor. Now I'm sure
some people will disagree with me and say you can make f2p bots and not need any cash at all. Sure, you can
go that route. But suicide botting wont get you very far long-term and you'll get tired of making new accounts
really quickly. You need two kinds of startup cash.

    • RSGP (To buy bonds if you don't want to use real money. Startup stock. (Ex. Flax for bowstring bot)
    • Real money (To buy membership if you dont want to use RSGP. Proxies, premium scripts, vpn)
    • And that wraps up the first section of this guide. Lets move on...

    2. Getting to know Dreambot

If you're new to botting, or using Dreambot I can imagine that all the different bits and bobs might be a bit
intimidating. They were for me at first. So I've taken a screenshot of the main screen with the menu open
and broke each section down into numbers so we could briefly go over each one.

    dTdgOMT.png

    1. Local Scripts. As a noob, you wont use this very often, if at all. This button is used to open a script you wrote yourself most of the time.
    2. Free scripts. Self explanatory, this is where you load the free scripts you downloaded from http://dreambot.org/sdn/mainscripts.php
    3. Premium scripts. Again, pretty self explanatory. Where you'll go to find any scripts you purchased from http://dreambot.org/sdn/mainscripts.php
    4. Visit SDN. This is a link that opens a new browser and directs you to http://dreambot.org/sdn/mainscripts.php so you can install new scripts
    5. Closes the left side menu with all these buttons.
    6. Your Dreambot username and profile image
    7. Bot controls. Play, pause or stop your current script with these.
    8. Keyboard/mouse controls. White means you have control, red means the script you are running has control.
    9. Take a screenshot.

    3. How to use your proxy

Like I talked about earlier, using a proxy is a pretty important step in running a successful bot farm. Dreambot makes using
a proxy extremely easy, and I list the steps below.

    1. When you first open up Dreambot you will be greeted with a screen that looks similar to this one.

    AVlV0Mz.png

Take note of the "Memory allocated". I usually do not run my bots above 256MB of ram. The reason being is bots need very
little ram to run. They instead rely heavy on CPU usage. Just wanted to point that out real quick. Once you see this screen you're
going to want to click on the drop-down menu next to "No proxy selected" and select "Edit proxies"

    dOfiEdg.png

You should be met with a screen similar to this one, minus the blocked out proxies I am currently using...

    qtEMGkV.png

Simply click on "Add new proxy, and fill out the information that was given to you by your proxy provider. Once you have everything
filled out correctly you can close the window and you'll be back on the main screen again. Make sure you open the drop-down menu again
and select your newly created proxy before hitting the launch button and you're good to go!

    4. Tips to avoid getting banned

Among all the other tips I have shared so far today, there are still even more ways you can help prevent yourself from getting banned quickly.
Let me be clear here, you will eventually get banned if all you do on an account is bot. It's just as simple as that. These tips will help that inevitable
ban take a little bit longer so you can get more use out of your bots.

    Use breaks

The Dreambot client has the ability to setup breaks for your bots, to make them seem more human. Nothing scream bot more than an account
that has been hacking at that same oak tree for the past 24 hours straight. For more information on using breaks please refer to this post:

    http://dreambot.org/forums/index.php/topic/4129-anyone-have-a-guide-for-creating-breaks/?p=38569

Never leave your bots alone too long

Yes, I know botting is suppose to be easier, so you can go to sleep and make money, or gain a few extra levels while you're at work. Fact is, its these
types of people who experience the most bans. Mistakes happen. Scripts may fail, leaving you spamming in public random numbers, or
walking into walls/closed doors. Talk about a quick ban!

    Talk to other players

You don't have to constantly talk with every living soul that walks past you so to speak. But from time to time make sure others around you
aren't trying to communicate. Or, for added effect strike up a 5 minute conversation with someone. Something like "Man, I hate doing wc, but
I need to get it done". Or ask them for their skill levels. This leaves a chat history for Jagex to see just in case they are watching and keeps
those randoms from hitting that report button.

Never bot on a level 3

Level 3 account + doing anything other than trying to level = bot. This is true 99.99999% of the time. Because of this, you will almost immediately
get reported by any non-bots around you the minute they see you. Level your bot a bit before using it. Put on a full set of iron armor, a cape, weapon
etc. Make yourself look like your there to do more than just cut some wood for cash.

    Don't use the default character

This ties into the end of our last bit above. Make yourself look unique. A low level default character is obviously something that was rushed. Something
a botter would want. Pick random outfits, colors then slap some random armor on.

    Don't bot tutorial island

I know there is a script for it, but don't use it. I've had 3 accounts banned within 20 minutes of leaving tutorial island, without even using another bot on it.
All 3 using fresh proxies that had never been used before. Just grind your teeth and get it done manually. It will go a long way.

I may add more to this section as time passes.

Lol, seemed like the right thing to do at the time. If you think it could use a more professional title please feel free to change it :)

Holy flying unicorns, that is a really good starting tutorial. I think this should be featured somewhere, like Pinned or something.

Tips: you don't have to believe me on these tips but I promise some testing was put into this.

IP Flagging isn't real(this was only used on massive gold farmers in the past), proxies only prevent chain bans.

Botting accounts on the same IP at different times wont result in chain bans. E.g. bot1 runs 11:00am-5pm, bot2 runs 6:00pm-11:00pm
