Donald Trump 333 Share Posted September 18, 2017 Pretty worrying that such a big and known software like CCleaner was compromised, apparently the malware didn't do anything malicious but could have been used to suddenly fuck everyone who downloaded it. Here's the link: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/ccleaner-compromised-to-distribute-malware-for-almost-a-month/ My normal practice is I don't use new versions of software straight away I give it a few weeks or more and i check it via VirusTotal from the get go. Obviously only download software that is known and on VirusTotal for a while which proves its authenticity.

DefCon 121 Share Posted September 18, 2017 I always thought CCleaner was ad-ware.... People should always know what they're installing, yes. But they should also know what they will use it for. If I don't install junk on my computer in the first place then I won't need a program that cleans it off for me.
