Hiding and showing paint by registering mouse

I am trying to Hide/Display my paint based on a painted text/button

I was looking into this old archived post: 

 

However they seem to be using the code:

    public void onMouse(MouseEvent event) {
        Point p = event.getPoint();
        log("MOUSE EVENT");
        if (event.getID() == MouseEvent.MOUSE_PRESSED && p.distance(hideBtnPoint) <= 0) {

which do not seem to be available  in the DB3 API.

How can i hide and display paint based on a painted button?
