client won't open for me on mac

I have tried doing everything other post have said to do with downloading the client on a mac. I have downloaded the java idk 8 update 121 and java 8 update 121 both. I download the client and it comes as a zip. I try to open it with something and I still can't get it to run the client. I just get it to open into a folder with a bunch of code that. please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks.

Try right clicking and selecting Open With -> Jar Launcher (default)
