Dioxin 29 Posted December 16, 2015 They aren't. They do not generate any new class files, which is a huge clue that they're not just syntactic sugar (and why they're preferred). Check the bytecode, it's completely different. Just thought I'd let it be known. I've seen a few places where people have questioned why lambdas were such a big deal, and how lambdas are nothing more than a less-verbose way to declare an anonymous class that contains a function. If you do not know what lambdas are, I highly suggest looking into them.
