aexonus 4 Posted November 25, 2024 I'm a little curious as to what the discontinuing of the legacy java client means for us dreambotters? I guess what I'm asking is, will we still be able to keep running via RuneLite? Thockey, dann8710 and msemtex 3
Thockey 0 Posted November 25, 2024 (edited) I'm also very curious about this. I have my DB patched into Runelite, but I still received a message from Jagex saying 'I've been flagged as a legacy client user and therefore I'm likely a bot'. I'd love to have a little more of a safety net here in terms of less ban-risk Edited November 25, 2024 by Thockey
SomeTallGuy 3 Posted November 26, 2024 (edited) The discontinuation of the legacy Java client for RuneScape is a pretty big deal for botters, mainly because it makes things harder across the board. Here’s why: 1. No More Easy Exploits The old Java client was simpler and less secure, making it easier for bots to exploit. With everyone forced onto modern clients like RuneLite or Jagex’s official client, those loopholes are basically gone. 2. Better Anti-Bot Detection The newer clients have way better anti-cheat systems built in. Moving everyone to these updated clients gives Jagex more tools to catch and ban bot accounts. Even RuneLite has tightened its controls to combat botting. 3. Fewer Botting Options A lot of bot scripts and tools were designed specifically for the legacy client. With that gone, those tools won’t work unless their developers figure out how to adapt them for the newer clients, which isn’t easy. In short, if you’ve been relying on the old client, you’ll probably need to rethink your approach. Botting is still possible, but it’s going to be tougher, riskier, and require more effort to stay under the radar. This change definitely ups the stakes. Edited November 26, 2024 by SomeTallGuy
romanbanan 0 Posted November 26, 2024 Nearly everyone that has botted recently has gotten that moderator message.
abby1904 0 Posted November 26, 2024 Really looking forward in what the botting community, script-makers or staff have to say about this. Will this mean the end of botting? Are there gonna be solutions? Alternatives?

The dreambot devs have been working on new spoofing methods since the deprication was initially announced a few months ago. They're showing promising results where those using the beta haven't been getting the legacy client message in their inbox.
