If you have multi java versions installed and something like unsupported major.minor occurs
    replace java -jar with:
    "PATH_TO_JRE_8_DIR/bin/java" -jar

    lel.

Ok for macs: First type this into terminal to uninstall java fully.

     "sudo rm -fr /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin

    sudo rm -fr /Library/PreferencePanes/JavaControlPanel.prefpane"

After that download the newest java 1.8 (atm it is version 8 51)

After you've done this, type in java -version, if terminal is running java 1.8 you are good to go, start up the launcher and it should launch perfectly.

If it says it's running 1.6 or 1.7, type in

    "sudo rm /usr/bin/java"

    "sudo ln -s /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java /usr/bin"

This will change the version running to the newest version (1.8)
