    I was lurking around some of the current Scripts and saw an overlaying text within the clients top left hand corner. How can I recreate such an overlay onto the client output rather than building whole forms for GUI? Many thanks in advance

    That's called a paint, here is a good tutorial of using the onPaint method and some nice snippets from Pug that helped me when o first started.
