Typically, you won't be able to successfully chargeback payments sent via "Friends and Family" unless you planned it such that you intended to from the start.

Apologies for posting here as this isn't my dispute. @Prime your information isn't completely correct, although it is somewhat true. One thing you need to be aware of, the user may have paid via debit/credit card (bank payments etc) if this is the case, the user is able to fight it under the providers belief that they was not aware of this payment. And here is an example - I send Prime $10 via PayPal and it's via a card, I can go to my bank and say I didn't notice this $10 so I would like it to be investigated. The bank has to by law try/actually recover your money due to you claiming you didn't know the payment was sanctioned meaning someone fraudulently used your details/PayPal account to pay someone without your permission. This is typically why a lot of gold websites and a lot of major solo merchanters when it comes to PayPal ask for ID confirmation, receipts, notes and so on. Sorry to hear you got scammed, you can try fight it of course. I would suggest trying to ring PayPal and explaining the situation to them, they may be able to help you as it was a payment you received under the impression you could trust this person and he has abused that trust. I hope this helps. ~ @Dbuffed
