Use no proxy, or use a different proxy that supports the auth, or add that QuickStart arg to not use the proxy during auth (you'd need VIP for that though).

I've personally seen it dismiss a random event yesterday, so I'm sure it's still working. Like Max said above, it can start a random time after it appears, and very rarely it'll completely ignore them. It also won't dismiss them if you're in combat, so that could be another factor?

Unfortunately the clients don't talk to each other so that wouldn't really be possible, however to do it more quickly you can always use the hotkey (CTRL+R). Hope that helps
